Our love story begins when I met Preston 47 years ago. I moved in next door to him and his family. So yes you could say I was the girl next door for a little while until we moved to another house a few blocks away. We walked to school together and then when Preston started driving he would come over and pick me up and drive me to school and sometimes home.
He worked at the Jenks Restaurant so most days he had to get right to work. Our first official date was lunch and a movie. We went to Denny’s and then went to see Urban Cowboy. The song Lookin’ for Love has always been our song. We even got to see Johnny Lee sing at one of our dance halls back in the 90’s.
Preston moved to New Mexico on March 17th, 1993. We were married on May 22nd, 1993. Although we have known each other for 47 years we were not together for all of them. We took a slight break for 8 years married different people and got back together after the break and have been together ever since. I have always said we were soul mates and it was meant to be. Preston always told me he knew from the very first time he saw me walking in my yellow coat with the white furry hood that he was going to marry me and he did. We are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary this year and if I have my way we’ll celebrate all year long. Here’s to a wonderful life with my husband and may we have many more.
We have been in Edgewood, NM for 20+ years. Preston has been with his company for 21 years. I have been with my company for 19 years. We love camping, boating, four-wheeling in our side-by-side, riding our motorcycle and traveling to see places on our to do list.
We still have some family in the Jenks/Tulsa area so we visit when we can. When we do get that way we always drive through Jenks and look up our past addresses, drive by the school and go through the oval. We like to go to Carl’s Coney’s, Braum’s and Hideaway Pizza. We even make time to go through Stillwater to eat at Joe’s. It’s still on my to do list to make an OSU homecoming game, but we just haven’t done that yet. We are very proud to have roots in Jenks, we are always bragging about the wonderful school, campus and football team we had back then and now.
